So confused about Jawbone up24 calories!

I wasn't sure where this should go. Forgive me if it's in the wrong forum...
Anyway, I got a Jawbone up24 yesterday and I've been using it nonstop since then. I'm just confused about the calorie count. Now, I spend a good portion of my day walking places. I walk to school, walk to the grocery store and I am a pretty big shopaholic (even if I'm just browsing, I can spend an hour or two in a store!) But I don't know. Something about it just seems... off.
Today, for example, my Jawbone has synced with MFP saying I burned 891 calories on my walks. Granted, I did walk a lot and I've logged 90% of my 10k steps (there is also one 15 min workout in there).
But is that real? It changes all my numbers on MFP. Like, right now I have over 1200 calories remaining because of what I've 'burned' and I guess I'm finding it hard because now I'm thinking, 'look at all those calories! I can eat something else!' when in reality, I've already eaten what my regular calories are... If that makes any sense...
Sorry for my rambling. Hoping I can figure this all out!
