No Facebook, no MFP friends?

i tried to add a friend from a forum post as my friend. It says I have to add th through Facebook? Why?!? I don't have Facebook anymore and don't want it... Can this be fixed?

    Hey there,
    There is absolutely no reason that I know of that MFP would require you to add somebody through facebook(or any other website for that matter).
    Clicking on somebodys profile photo or username should redirect you to their profile, within which you should have the option to add the user as a friend.

    I have never seen that about adding a friend through facebook ...you're welcome to add me if you would like I do not have facebook nor do I want it either
