Wondering are there any apps, fitbits or other devices that do more than steps?

I know that the fitbit charge HR is coming out soon, so that will be able to do heart rate. I am not much of a walker. So I was wondering if there was any type of tech gear or app that helps to count calories or steps that you do on the Elliptical (which is my workout of choice for cardio) I know that you can add them manually, but looking for something that can read while I do it, So i don't have to continually add my workouts, sometimes I forget to add the calories or workout that I have done that day.

The Bodymedia Fit probably would, if you wore it on your calf, while you did the workout. But it has the bummer of having to pay the seven dollar monthly fee. I have one and I love it though. When I do workouts like bike riding, and being on a treadmill, it seems to not register correctly unless I move the unit to my leg, but then it records it correctly.0

If you have a smartphone then Runkeeper, Endomondo or similar in stopwatch mode then automagical MFP integration.
Given the accuracy you need, that's a reasonable solution, at no cost.0
