My heart is not racing

when I do strength training without weights just at home doing squats or something like that when I take my heart beat it is beating faster than when I just sit on the couch do nothing or walk around the house
So I don't quite like cardio, but I am willing to walk but here's the thing when I walk my heart isn't beating as fast as when I do strength training nor is there many sweat. If your heart isn't beating fast does that mean walking as an excercise won't work?

Walking doesn't burn as many calories as intentional exercise would, but it does burn more than sitting on the couch. You still have to use calories to move your legs etc though, so it burns some. Here is a chart! http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-living/weight-loss/in-depth/exercise/art-20050999?pg=20
