Unsure so i put sedentary, I'm a student so when i'm in lectures obviously sitting for few hours. I usually walk to lectures which is about 30 mins of walking in total per day.. walk back from the shops etc. Any other questions to help distinguish between the two please ask?

Well, 30 minutes of walking is roughly 4000 steps, if you walk really fast. 10,000 steps a day is the minimum for an active person.

Unless you are getting in more movement than this, it sounds pretty close to sedentary.

I would go with sedentary. What's the worst that happens, you lose slightly faster than anticipated? :D

From what I remember, Sedentary is pretty much sat on your *kitten* all day without moving. IIRC, there was a thread somewhere basically explaining why 95% of the people on MFP shouldn't put it as their activity level, but I can't remember where it is.

Yep, I'd start with Sedentary. You can always tweak (and eat) more if you feel you're losing too fast.

I chose Sedentary for MFP because their description was awake and aware, but largely sitting. ;) (I'm paraphrasing...)

Sedentary means the least amount of calories you need to survive if you were in a coma or sat around all day doing nothing. It goes up from there depending on your activity. It's all estimates so I would start at lightly active with your activity level, ensure you are doing accurate portion control and logging, and go from there. It's all estimates anyway.

I work a desk job and have my settings at active because I lose weight otherwise. I also run and heavy weight lift, and I eat my cardio exercise calories back (sometimes all, other times just a portion). I have been maintaining for a year. I had to keep playing around with the numbers until I found the right fit based on my activity level.

To hit sedentary I need to walk at least 2500 steps according to my fitbit and the negative calorie adjustments it makes to MFP

If you're only walking to class, that sounds sedentary to me.
