I am trying to understand why some people would see perfectly normal behaviors as creeping.

Because some people are more paranoid than others.

Creeping is the type of behaviour that if they find you attractive they will call it flirting, but if they disapprove of your appearance it will be called creeping.

Someone who crosses boundaries. These can be explicitly stated personal boundaries or boundaries that are implied based on normal appropriate social behavior.

This is a good definition. The only problem with it is that everybody has a different set of boundaries. What I may do to one person is creepy whereas if I did it to another person, it may not be seen as creepy.

There are a ton of threads I have seen dealing with this in the last several months. One says the difference between a creeper and a flirt is whether you find the creeper attractive and want them or not. I don't subscribe to this. I have had some attractive creepy people.

My view of a creeper is someone who writes and tells you that you look fantastic and then proceeds to send you weird flirty messages and soon after you stop talking to them.....and months later they start up again because they didn't recognize you or forgot who you were.

Hey! You're pretty good looking. You and I should be friends!

Hi. I just saw you, and think you are pretty good looking. Would you like to be friends?

Since it is so subjective, I will give an example of my creeper. I had a woman on here who started sending me PMs. It went on for about 24 hours. I was politely responding, and in those 24 hours, she had already made plans for our wedding, internet stalked me and found out where I lived, my kids names, and their school schedules and interests, and such. That is the only true person who interacted with me that made my skin crawl a little.

Whoa. I feel like an amateur now.

Seriously though, that is scary stuff. I've always known that things like that happen, but your account makes me wonder just how often..

Oh dang it! From these definitions I may be a creeper, possibly a stalker, and at times a troll. LOL

    x sigh x

Apologies to all the half naked people that I found attractive and offended by complimenting. ;p

Rub the purple head vigorously and all will be forgiven...

One of my ex boyfriends had a friend I'd consider to be a creeper. Every time I was in the room with him he stared at me like he'd just gotten out of prison and hadn't seen a woman in 20 years.

I'd say he's a RL creeper though and not an internet creeper.

To me a creeper is someone that makes me feel extremely uncomfortable. It's VERY subjective. What I might find creepy another could find flattering and vice versa.
