Hi guys just new to all of this....can someone please tell me how I can add fresh food to my diary?
It keeps asking for a specific brand. Say for example for my lunch today I had zucchini, snow peas and chicken. Am I able to add this?
Thank you.

just search zucchini. If it was raw, maybe type "zucchini raw". Same for the snow peas, and type in however the chicken was cooked.

Don't make the entries as plural and look for non asterisked entries.

    Search for the following:

    Squash - Zucchini, raw
    Peas - edible-podded, raw . . . (= snow peas)
    Chicken - meat only

Edited to change beans to peas. Doh!

No, Snap beans are regular green beans, usually ones that don't need stringing. They aren't the same as snap peas or snow peas. I checked the database and there are LOTS of options for "sugar snap peas," so look for that.

What does the asterisk mean on the entry options. I thought it was good, not bad. Feeling dopey now...

The asterisk means it's a non-verified member-entered option. There are plenty of good entries in that category--but you kind of have to have the package/USDA info with you when you look it up.

Sorry about that it has been a while since I had to find snow peas. I found:
    Peas - edible-podded, raw

Non-asterisked entries correspond to USDA Foods List database. Try to use the entries without an asterisk.

Good to know. I was parroting something I had read on here and didn't realize wasn't true.

Drat, I had it backwards re: asterisks. Oh, well. I've done OK according to my scale, so no harm, no foul. But, I'll probably do better with my logging in the future...thanks, everyone for the correction!
