For the world to see !!

I was just wondering why people think its good to post the most graphic of events in there life on Facebook ??
After being involved in some unneeded drama due to a drunk post created by someone else, im left wondering why people do it. I cringe at what people put at times or the need for attention that great that they seek it on an internet site ?? Any of you guilty at this ?? I know i may get backlash for this but its for a need to understand the reasons behind it.

Personally, I have family members on my FB. I generally live life by the "If Grandma knew..." rule but yes, there are many events in my life that might be too much for Grandma. I don't share those with FB though. Why would I want to give someone ammo?
I'm too close to finding a decent job to let a FB post ruin it. I don't want my boss looking at my FB and not liking what I post either.
I don't talk about religion, politics, or those other topics that aren't safe for small chat. I'm not saying people who do shouldn't, but it just causes drama in my life.
In college, I had to sign a social media contract for my sorority to not post pictures of acts that weren't "classy."
Meaning, unfaltering photos, distasteful photos with alcohol, hateful (bad language) statuses would be brought to attention.
I think it is a good rule to follow even though I didn't like being watched.

But I believe people put things on social media because they are bored, trying to find self esteem through it (or feel like a cool kid), or just want the attention. I don't make comments on other people's poor judgement but I do hide them from my news feed.
I have a friend who posts all of her drama on FB. From work sucks (which you should NEVER do) to "why doesn't my boyfriend love me" to broke up status and then pictures of her touching tongues with the (ex?)boyfriend guy. GROSS. Tasteful kissing pictures of couples, fine. But people eating faces, nonononono!
