I know this has been asked probably too much but I weighed myself last Monday and was 187.6 pounds then about 4 days later weighed myself and it said 184.3, last night it said 185.6 and then this morning 183.6... so i'm a bit unsure what I actually weigh as I know water weight plays a huge part.

When should I weigh myself? I use a digital weighing scale.

I think its the best to weigh yourself in the morning before you eat. Also if you have to go to the toilet go because it does make a difference when you step on the scale.

Consistency is the key, weigh yourself once a week on the same day each week at the same time, preferably without clothing. I find my weight fluctuates throughout the week so sticking to just once a week helps me to see exactly what my progress is.

You weigh yourself at a frequency that suits you. There is no right and wrong.
If its often i.e daily then be consistent and do it under the same circumstances each time i.e before food and after you have been to the loo.
Understand about fluctuations. Chart it, so you can see trends. Its 1-4lbs each day it can naturally fluctuate.

Use other methods as well such as tape measure, mirror and preformance targets.

I do it daily. If it goes down that is niceish, if it goes up I keep doing the same things and work hard. What im looking out for is a warning if it doesnt move for week (not at deficit) or if it starts a trend up(im at surplus), then I alter accordingly.

I weigh myself every morning, nude, after going pee, with the scale in the same spot on the floor.

Weigh yourself how you want, but be consistent about it. Weight goes up and down everyday. I can be down 2lbs one day and up 3lbs two days later and then down again the next. The only weight that matters is the overall, not the daily. I like doing the daily, but only because I like to have as much information as possible about my weight.

If daily is too upsetting for you, then do weekly or monthly. Just make sure you're doing it on the same day, same clothing, same time, etc...

What you actually weigh is what the scale says you weigh. We can't ignore water.since we are mostly water, if we did, we wouldn't weigh much. You need to weigh at the same time each week or day to give you a better idea of whether you are gaining or losing weight, but our weight really does fluctuate by several pounds throughout a day.

I weigh daily and record weekly. Most important is the consistency of it; same time, place, etc.
  • As a nurse we teach heart/cancer patients to weigh 1st thing in the morning after they urinate. This is the most accurate weight. Everyone's body weight fluctuates through the day.

Its normal for your weight to fluctuate. Weigh yourself first thing in the morning after you use the bathroom in the same scale in the same place for the most accurate reading!

Yep. Just choose a day of the week and time of the day and go with it. You can do it daily or weekly, but be consistent and it will even out.
