is this a reasonable way to calculate the calories in this dish?

I have a recipe that calls for an entire jar of hot giardinera, drained (its packed in oil). If I take the calorie count from the entire jar, minus the calories) of the drained oil (by weight), will that be accurate?

sounds ok, except if the label shows next to no fat it's already a "drained" set of data.0

I wouldn't worry about subtracting out what you are draining. I would assume some of that oil has soaked into the food. If you have the option next time can you get it not packed in oil?0

It only comes packed in oil, and the label is definitely not showing a drained nutrition.
I do worry about the extra calories.....its about 3/4c oil. Thats hundreds of calories.0 -
That seems perfectly reasonable. It would be easy to see if there was any water or other non-miscible liquid in the oil, and you've clearly removed a verifiable amount.0
