The body is very good at adapting, so yes you may feel good. End of the day you wont die of starvation.
But the end goal is to be at your goal weight and be able to eat as much as possible.
Food is probably one of the best things in the world, so the more the better i say.
If you are consistent the weight will come off but as others have said don't start too low as you may need to drop later on when you stall weight. Give it at least 6 months before you get discouraged.

If you keep going the way you are, you hair and nails might start to fall out, your periods might stop randomly, you might start to feel like throwing up all the time, your bones will become brittle (later on in life) from lack of calcium. There are millions of impacts that VCLD can have on you. It is a gimmick to get people to buy their weight loss products with full knowledge that they will be back again in a year or two to start again.
oh no no, im not buying any products....im just eating a completly plant based diet. I dont consume animals or any animal products.
I do, however, need to lose extra kilos, doing this on a vegan diet can be difficult and confusing about how much i should eat!!! lol
im eating for health

I'm in Australia too. Yes it is very hard to find our restaurants etc in the mfp data base!0

Purchasing the product or not, that is why the VLCD exists. Some thing you should consider. How do you want to eat long term once the weight has been lost ? You should eat like the thin person you want to be in the future. What is the hurry to lose the weight so quick ? I've been at the top of the scale and down the bottom. There is no pot of gold, life is not better all of a sudden. Eat more and take your time.0

You've also had some a awesome advice on this thread. Work out your tdee and bmr. Return here with your numbers, and move forward from there.0

Are you hitting your protein and fat minimums? If not that's where you should focus first. If you're having trouble meeting your goal open your diary so people can give advice. There's a group for veggies/vegans called The Happy Herbivores that's supposed to be very good and active. Unfortunately you can't search for groups anymore (#upgrades) but maybe someone will link it for you.0

Ok quick run down to save confusion
BRM is your base metabolic rate, this is the amount of calories your body would use to function, ie if you were in a coma
Your TDEE is your total daily energy expenditure, this is made up of your BMR + daily activities.
Good luck, try these as a starting point

They will all vary a bit but remember its only a starting point, stick with it for 3 weeks then adjust up or down0 -

I am about 30kilos overweight. I want to really jump start my weight loss journey and am calorie counting like crazy.
I am also vegan by choice before this diet, all my foods are plant based and nutrient rich.
For some reason being on this VLCD I've put myself on, I've maybe only about 2 kilos in 3 weeks??
Am I not right in believing I should be losing more if I'm only consuming 3500-4000 kiks a day?
I hate working out, so I don't do much, maybe only 3 times a week cardio. I loathe it!! Lol
Anyway. I'm new to this and hope someone could help me??? What am I doing wrong? I eat loads of plant based nutrient rich foods, I eat no processed sugars or rich animal products and I drink up to 2 litres of water a day.
Help!!????
You're eating less than 950 calories a day and not losing weight?
I don't think so. You are underestimating your food and overestimating your calories burned.
If you believe this not to be true, you need to get to a doctor fast because you have a serious underlying medical condition that needs immediate attention.

I'm not a vegan (but I tend to eat mostly vegetarian/whole food), but this might be a good place to start: http://happyherbivore.com/
Happy Herbivore has a service that provides you with weekly meal plans with only whole food, plant-based recipes. Everything is calorie counted for you. Every day has AT LEAST 1200 calories, which is the absolute minimum amount of energy you should be consuming per day. I have one of her cookbooks and her recipes are really simple, fast, and quite tasty!0 -
Or you could start your own group on here as well !!!0

You're still saying that you're eating around 1045 calories. That is not very much. I realize that it's a lot more volume if you're eating mostly fruit/veggies, but I still wonder whether you might be underestimating your intake. Are you willing to open your diary?
Your rate of loss is pretty healthy so I'd be less concerned about that and more concerned about getting adequate macronutrients.0 -

Okay, so a 20% deficit would put you at 1800 calories. Or a 1lb/week deficit would put you at 1750. Somewhere in there is your "magic number"* of what you should try to eat each day to lose weight. This is "net" calories, so you should not log or eat back any exercise calories on top of this if you use this method.
Try that for a couple of months and see how you do. If you're losing weight faster than 1lb/week, eat more. If you're losing slower, eat a bit less.
But either way you should be eating WAY more than 1045 calories.0 -
The Vegetarian Resource Group has a lot of good nutritional information for vegans. The website is www.vrg.org/. For protein, think bean/grain combos, quinoa, tofu, tempeh, seitan, but really there is protein in everything, and if you are eating enough calories, you should not be protein deficient. B12 is something you need to think about. Sources are nutritional yeast, fortified plant milks, some cereals and vitamin supplements. It sounds like upping your calories a bit will help you cover your nutritional bases, but do read up on vegan nutrition.0

You have your calorie goal set way too low. Besides this, you are way underestimating calorie intake. Not every single avocado is 275 calories (in fact, I think a whole one is probably more than that), and not every single banana is 90 calories. The list goes on.
I think the problem is that you are using generic entries and not weighing your food. It's really important that you learn how to gauge how much you are eating. For many of us, eyeballing does not work. The food scale is your friend.
I love bananas and eat them every day on my oatmeal. These bananas range from 89 to 134 calories, depending on how many grams they weight. Same with berries and other fruits and anything else you like to eat.
Also, do you drink any calorie beverages, use salad dressings, use condiments? Those count too.
Here are some links that will help you with calorie counting.

You are Probably Eating More Than You Think

thank you for the lovely advice, i *do* take a b12 supplement because i have been deficiant before. With proteins i know i eat lentils, tempeh and peas but i dont think i eat enough....i really need to readjust my thinking by the looks of it...
thank you again so much0 -
^This.
It's very important that, when you up your calorie goal to 1750 or 1800, you don't just log that the way you've been logging all along. In all likelihood you're eating more than that now, so logging an accurate 1750 calories might actually wind up being less food than you're currently eating.
Be really annoyingly anal-retentive obsessive for a bit. Not forever, but until you get your bearings. Weigh everything, including the stuff that has the calories on the package. You might be amazed at what a true 1750 calories actually looks like.0 -

thank you thank you thank you....i am readjusting everything now accordingly.

You said you eat 4500 kj which, when I converted, came out to about 900 calories a day, which is see is incorrect. Now it comes out to 1076, but your calorie goal in your diary is 700 something.
I didn't tell you to get real, and I would not say that to anyone.
I am offering help, just as other members are.0 -
You definitely need to eat more. I had to Google what 118 kilos is in pounds & definitely feel you need to at least try to net 1,200 calories. Eating so little will not only make you tired, cranky, & hangry but it could also jeopardize your health. You didn't get to the weight you're overnight & you won't lose the weight overnight either. You should look at this as a lifestyle change & try to lose the weight in a safe manner that is sustainable for life.
I lost over around 150 pounds in two years by eating my favorite foods in moderation (some days eating a lot worse) & for a lot of it using Scooby's calculator to figure out my TDEE.

She needs to get control of her calorie counting because the title of her post is that she is not shifting any weight (which I take to mean not losing any weight).
1200 is not the magic number. She posted her BMR, which is around 1800.0
