Those of you that work out of the home what do you take to work with you to eat? I start in the office very early at 7:00am. I am so not a morning person! So it is very difficult to get out of bed in the morning and the longer I stay in the longer my kids sleep because it never fails they get up when I get up. My husband works opposite shift and doesn't get home till 1:00am so needless to say he is a bear if the kids are up to early! My habit for the past 11 years is get up rush out of the house - try not wake up my kids or husband (which is difficult cause we live in a small ranch with all our bedrooms clustered together) and it never fails I do wake them up, stop and get a bagel in the morning....and fast food for lunch. Obviously that is no longer going to work with wanting/needing to lose weight!

I was curious those of you that are in a hurry in the morning and on the go what do you take to work with you for breakfast and lunch??

Thanks in advance :)

I eat a Quest bar for breakfast. Honestly, I buy my lunch every day. I take the subway to work and hate carrying food/tupperware across the boroughs. Once in a blue moon I'll bring hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese (which I would just buy by the grocery store at work anyway), or an Amy's frozen meal.

My best advice is to pack your meals the night before, and do a few days worth at a time. Ex: Sunday night prep Mon Tues Weds, Weds night prep for Thurs and Fri. I have an insulated lunch tote and I pack the non-refrigerated stuff in there and leave it on the counter. In the fridge I pack my stuff into a plastic grocery bag and leave it front and center. Then all you have to do is grab and go. Obviously you can pack anything you like, even bagels and cream cheese if your office has a toaster!
  • My current fav breakfast is spinach, black beans, cilantro, tomato & goat cheese- take it to work and cut up a hard boiled egg and top with avocado and salsa, yum! Sounds like a lot of work but I make a few containers to take through the week. Delicious and filling! Or I make up some apple pie oatmeal- steel cut oats, cut up apple chunks, cinnamon, a bit of maple syrup in a container soaked with almond milk over night- grab in the morning and heat up at work (can be done with berries as well).

    I skip breakfast.
Lunch I pack the night before -- something like chick peas and yogurt.
I keep some soup and nuts in my office in case I forget to grab the lunch from the fridge.

I don't eat breakfast right away usually. I will have a coffee. And pack like a granola bar or some crackers or something... And for lunch, maybe you could pack leftovers from dinner from the night before. Either that, or healthy frozen meal or frozen burrito or something. Make sure you pack enough snacks and enough water. If i get too hungry from not having enough snacks or water I get totally hangry lol. If you have to eat out, theres things like subway, dangelos... just fit it into your day :) good luck!

I leave the house at 7:15 because I walk to work. I keep mini-frittatas on hand and if I'm hungry (I'm not always hungry for breakfast) I grab one as I'm leaving and eat it while I walk. If you're a bigger breakfast-eater you could have two or three of them (they're pretty low-cal/high-protein), or wrap one in a slice of ham first, or throw a piece of fruit in your bag too, etc.

I go home for lunch (I work two jobs; lunch is the break between them) so I don't know how helpful my ideas would be for that. I eat canned soups quite often, usually with some extra veg added in. I like sandwiches on sandwich thins with portion-controlled cheese (laughing cow or weighed deli slices). Tuna stuffed in a tomato is easy and delicious, but you need crackers or something on the side. I grill chicken or pork on the weekend, portion it out, and dump it on top of a basic green salad a lot of times. I also make a big batch of quinoa salad on the weekend and I'll have it over greens with a side of tuna or chicken. Basically, my lunches don't take a lot of time and would be easily portable, but I do have access to my full kitchen when making them. I'd imagine you could pre-make and pack similar things pretty easily, though.

I leave for the gym at 5:30 and heat up a piece of frittata before I go. I have my lunch and snacks all packed up and ready to go from the night before.

I eat a medium banana and a Nature Valley trail mix bar for breakfast most every day, 245 calories total.

Lunch is a Banquet frozen dinner, small Activia yogurt, and one or two Dole fruit cups, about 500 calories usually.
