I keep seeing posts by people who say they have done 20, 30 or 60 minutes on the elliptical......can I just ask how? I am ready to beat my own head in by 3.5 minutes and usually abandon it for the solace of some heavy stuff. Needing to do more cardio for endurance as I have a competition in June but god does cardio ever DRAG. I have so far been rowing in 500m sprints, 10 mins on bike or boxing. Does the elliptical have some magic secret I have not thus far learned?

Different cardio "works" for different people. If you hate the elliptical but tolerate rowing and spinning, that's your game.

    Also, Netflix.

Ah lol hadnt thought of a movie. I use the one at the gym. I mainly asked because I know it gives a really good burn the few times I have persisted to five mins or so but it honestly is so tedious I end up putting my gloves on and punching stuff

Music, TV, dedication to their fitness goals perhaps?

You could get just as good calorie burns from other cardio activities - running, cycling, rowing, etc. - do whatever you most enjoy (or what you least hate) and you're more likely to be consistent with it.

Cheers. Will stick to what I know I guess. This honestly wasnt a p*ss taking thread. I just thought maybe I was missing something here as I know its meant to be a good workout but I cant get my head around it.

I run - outside of course - i can just about manage 30 minutes on a treadmill before i want to throw myself off it - but i can run for 2 hours outside. Find what you like best and do it

I started the elliptical machine because I'm little and my calorie is low and I really like to eat. A lot! Lol but seriously, it is a good burn and I do feel like I get that "runners high" at about the ten minute mark
