When I began menopause it seemed like I gained weight even though I ate what appeared to be nearly nothing. OK, so I didn't take into account that as we age our diet must evolve as well. So here I was, eating a handful of nuts here and there, a few bites of dinner here and there and a glass or two of wine every evening. I had a rude awakening when I joined my husband in his diet plan, mostly because I had to prepare all our meals and it didn't make sense to prepare two different meals each time. We began a protein and vegetable diet and sure enough lost 4 lbs the first week without starving to death! We have been at it for nearly a month and a half now and I am about 10 lbs down. In a week or so we will begin to reintroduce the carbs and other foods we love so it will be interesting to see it the weight stays off. Stay tuned, and know there is hope!
