I seem to hit a plateau... Time and time again.

Hello, I'm 33 female and have PCOS (not sure if relevant)

I started MFP lat feb, I did great up until July, I had lost 3 stone, then for a month or so I didn't seem to lose. So I got bored and would go over, I'd put 6lb on or so, then lose it again, constantly until December.. I started again I, I've now lost 3st 5lband seem unable to lose anymore.. I need to lose about another 4/5 stone, so it's not like I'm even at a stable weight. I have 1,370 cals a day, it's rarely I go over, when I do it's usually on the days I exercise, I don't normally eat exercise calories back. I do exercise and I walk, I average around 8,000 steps a day, some days it's 3,000 others it's 14,000. I play badminton once a week, and either go to the gym or swimming twice a week, as well as walking when I can... I thought maybe I needed to check my portion sizes etc incase they have crept up... So I weigh everything, and I honestly don't cheat. I'm not afraid to say I have when I have. Last week, I was under my calories every day, except one day when I went 300 over, in theory if I ate 300 cals a day more than I do know, I should still lose 2lb a month... But I put 2lb on. Weighed myself a couple of times incase it was a fluke.. I'm so disheartened by this, I don't mind gaining when I cheat or I know I haven't done well. I just seem unable to get past about 3st 5lb. I've weighed myself this week, and I have been super strict all week, and been to the gym and swimming, yet in weigh the same. I'm not building muscle as I mostly do cardio at the gym, I'm sick of being fat and frustrated. Does anyone have any tips on how to get this going again, and actually lose some weight?

Thanks

If I were you, I'd search for some PCOS groups on here. You'll find other people with the same condition and experiences. I know the calories out is a little different with PCOS. How is your carb intake? I believe with PCOS, people seem to have the best success with lower carb diets.

Yep, lowering carbs really helps with PCOS. I haven't had to go super low but I eat 1-3 servings of grains most days and ate less than that earlier last year when I had more to lose. Most of my carbs came/still come from fruits and veggies.

I would really suggest adding some strength training. If you don't want to do free weights then add in some bodyweight training. At a certain point you might decide to add weights but if you don't, you can get quite a bit done with bodyweight work. The workout I started with was the Nerd Fitness Beginner Bodyweight Workout, which you can google and fine. It takes next to no equipment and can be done at home or a gym. For me, adding strength workouts (I've moved onto mostly weights but still keep up with some bodyweight stuff) really amped up the weight loss.
