Power-walking Pram pushing Frenchie

Has just bought a pink dog stroller for my 3 year old French Bulldog Stella, she cannot walk very far, a bit like me atm. My plan when it arrives is to put her in the stroller and go off power walking, the possibilities are endless.. the beach, the local parks. This week I have only been taking her out on the lead for 30 minutes, she sleeps for a good hour when she gets home.. it was my mothers idea, but she was being sarcastic and truly thinks I will be looked at as a crack pot if I do it - myself I think its a fantastic idea and I am going to do it
Does anyone else do this with their dogs? Would anyone give it a go? I might even take her on the 5k Race for Life in the summer lol.

I've seen people do it. I wouldn't myself0

Can your dog not walk far because it is overweight or out of shape or can dogs that small not walk far? I really have no idea. I have greyhounds so if I'm walking, they're walking. Though the thought of one in a stroller with its legs sticking out all akimbo is now making me laugh.0

I have seen this a lot. I wouldn't do it because I have beagles and they have the energy of a preschool class of toddlers on pixie stix. But I do find it sickeningly cute. Lol0

Its the breed shes not over weight, she struggles to eat and breathe at the same time bless her, cant get too hot cant get too cold, something to do with their body regulation. They need daily walks to keep weight down but not too far. She is a little princess, spoiled rotten. Iv sort of lost contact with the old crowd I used to go running with and really dont want to go alone so she will be my company, Im starting back to walking pace now so dont really want to contact them until I know I can keep up if you know what I mean. I think Stella would benefit seeing other parts of our local area too, seeing she only walks a certain distance away from the house

Wait, your dog is a French bulldog and her name is Stella? That's very Modern Family.0

Hahaha we rehomed her, named already I'm afraid, once I get the stroller I will just have to post a pic of her in it on this thread, only if she likes it though, wouldn't put her in it if shes not happy. I am just hoping noone looks in it and says how much the baby looks like me lolrunningforicecream wrote: »Wait, your dog is a French bulldog and her name is Stella? That's very Modern Family.

I actually have a frenchie too and also use a stroller(pram) for her at times. At first I was worried about people laughing at me, but I quickly got over it. Who cares what they think?! I push her in it when the walk would be too much on her. I'll let her walk until she's tired then I push her the rest of the way. I originally got it because it wasn't fair to my other dogs that we'd only have to have short walks because the frenchie couldn't last as long as they could. So I got the stroller so they could still get their nice long walks, and she could have a break when she was too tired to walk any further. She loves it and my other dogs enjoy their long walks again. People come up to me all the time and ask to see the baby. They assume that a baby is inside of the stroller, but are very surprised to see a frenchie instead! Lol. So enjoy your new pram ! Who cares what people think! At least you'll be getting active and your frenchie will enjoy being outdoors.0

why do you have an animal that can't walk- and can barely breath?
that sounds like a horrible life.
secondly- I doubt she cares anything about seeing further from where she walks- dogs have no sense of time and don't care about things the way people do.
Thirdly- If pushing your dog around in a stroller makes you happy- push your dog around in a stroller- you've already purchased it- you don't need our blessing for it.
That being said- I rarely point AND laugh- that's at the top of my rude list- but for some reason I find it completely hysterical and just eye rolling funny to see someone pushing a dog in a stroller. I can't say I'd point- but I would unquestionably be laughing at you with a pink stroller with a dog in it.
But like I said- if it makes you happy- go on with your bad self- my- and everyone else's opinion is really irrelevant in the big picture.0 -
I wish I could do that with my dog, she's getting too old for our hour long walks, so 30 minutes is about all she'll put up with, but I can't see putting her in a stroller. Please, please, please, post a pic when you get it.0

French bulldogs have a flat face JoRocka and the breed doesn't regulate their bodies properly just the way they are, she can walk just fine but not more than 15 mins one way then its back again, we live near a local beach and a few public parks but too far to take her, we rehomed her and is perfectly happy and healthy. I dont know whether pushing her around in a stroller is going to make me happy just yet, it will probably make me laugh though as like you I would probably laugh seeing a dog being pushed in a pink stroller too.... I love other peoples opinions I am not really asking for approval more so if anyone else does it and how they find out walking (exercising) with their pooches in a stroller. A lot of people use them if the dogs have arthritis or ill health and it gets them out in the fresh air, think its a great idea and would benefit the dogs as well as the owners if exercising is a problem,, thanks for you comment

I forgot to add in, I would still carry with you bottled water and a plastic bowl for your frenchie.in the summer months, Even though she won't be walking and will be inside of the stroller, they over heat very easily even while sitting. So it's important to always have fresh water and a bowl available. I usually stop every thirty mins when it's hot out, and make her drink some water and I'll also cool her fur down by misting her with the water.
My breeder told me that she once sold a frenchie to a young couple . They only had the dog for two years and it passed away. It died from heat stroke. They brought it to the beach and forgot to keep the dog cool. It's very sad. So it's always best to be very cautious when bringing this breed outdoors in summer months.0 -

Dogs that are specifically bred not to be able to breathe don't breathe very well. I don't know why people purposefully make animals that can't breathe, but they do. (well of course I know why, because they are evil and greedy) That's nice of OP to have rescued her - if she'd come direct from a breeder I would be slinging the harshness around right now. Instead I will just say, make sure you refer to yourself as "eccentric" so others don't think you're crazy

My frenchie is directly from a breeder. She's the daughter of an akc champion. But where our dogs come from isn't the point of this thread. Instead, it was about the op getting a stroller and walking . So if you want to " sling harshness" as you put it, go right ahead.

I wish you and the pup the best of luck! And many walking miles of smiles!0
