Intermittent fasting and calories

So I have just, in the last week, started to try the IF way of doing things. The problem I am finding is it is hard to get my calories in. Some days I do great and a lot of days I will only eat like 1000-1200. There are also days when I go over by a crazy amount. The thing I am finding is that when I eat around the 1000-1200 I feel better. Today I am trying to up the calories and I am feeling sick.

Any thought or suggestions would be very helpful.

Thank you

Rebecca

  • I do Isagenix which incorporates IF and 1200 calorie days. I LOVE IT! The IF days I drink a nutritional supplement so I am burning fat vs muscle and also detoxing on a cellular level (vs a traditional liver or colon cleanse). It's the best I've ever felt!!

What are your goals for calorie intake on your fasting vs eating days?

Setting the IF idea aside for the moment, if you go over on some days and under on others, that's fine. I like to look at my weekly total instead of stressing over daily totals.

If you find that you aren't eating enough doing IF, then it might not be the thing for you. I like doing IF because I like bigger meals, and so I normally eat 2 meals a day (16/8 type). I feel more satisfied overall and it is easier for me to manage calories. I also have no trouble fitting in lots of calories if I need them.

So it's all going to come down to personal preference. Try it out for a while and see how it works for you.

I am also trying the 16/8 type. I am not sure that I could do total days on vs days off. I am just not sure how to make it work. I like doing the IF because I already feel like I can feel the benefits like having more energy during the days. I'm just not sure how to make it to my calories... or do I need to eat that many calories can I just stay around 1200?
