I am not sure if it's an age thing or not, but what is your take on breaking up with someone via text.

Is it ever an acceptable way to breakup with someone?

i think it depends....if it's a serious relationship, the only acceptable way to do it is in person (unless it's impossible to do so. i once broke up with someone who had recently moved overseas via skype).

if it's a fairly new relationship and things aren't serious and you aren't super committed to each other, i think a nice text is just fine. just don't be a d-bag about it.

however...if this person is crazy as hell and you think they might hurt you? text them and then block them!

That was my thought, but fara180 brought up some good points.

Thanks. Appreciate your thoughts on it. My daughter did this survey thing at school and her answer was that it was completely ok to break up via text with someone after 3 months (that was the specific question). Just seemed sorta cold to me. The kid got over it, but he was pretty sad at first.

I think it sucks either way and it is usually cowardly. At least have the guts to do it on the phone if it's just a casual thing. I've had it happen to me twice and it seems like the losers were just too wimpy to face me. They probably even blocked me after they sent the text because they didn't want to face the consequences. Which were likely a string of profanities. Lol

Do it on phone or in person unless it was a short fling or if it isn't safe.

A mate of mine got dumped by text.

While he was at her house.
    Washing her car.
    She was in the house.
She even waited until he was done and was rinsing the bucket and sponge.
