Rectangle-shaped ladies (late 20s, 30s, 40s), where do you shop?

I am a short box. Bra size 30C, waist size 29" at a weight range of 20+ pounds. (I have a nicely defined core, just...not a proportionate one.) Help me find dresses that fit and are flattering. By the time I can get my waist/torso into all these trendy fit and flare or slim-fit work dresses, you could fit eight or nine of my T&A in there, and work appropriate knee-length dresses hit just wrong on my calves. Every time I try things on and look in the mirror, I'm on the verge of tears. Instant transition from fit and not entirely unpretty to dumpy blob.
I get away with elastic waistband skirts and sweaters/blazers for work, but I have some weddings to go to this year so this is my SOS beacon.
(I understand heavy lifting can help, but it takes time. Nudity, however, looms.)

I do not have this problem, but! White house black market has great dresses, I would ask a sales associate to help. They are very expensive but look really nice at a wedding.0
