Hey everyone,

I am messaging in behalf of my mother because I know she would never seek help on here, for whatever reasons. I am 23 and have lost 11 lbs thanks to MFP. She's really hard on herself about her weight. She's 4'11 and weighs 170 lbs. She wants to lose about 60 lbs. It made me really sad to see her that way, so I encouraged her to join MFP. I was hoping it would give her a confidence boost and make her realize how many calories she's actually eating/day. I was successful with the latter but she actually gained 2 lbs from when she started last week. From 168 lbs to 170 lbs.

I'm really worried about her losing motivation. I monitor what she eats, I take her to the gym with me. We have a vegetarian diet. My mother eats more veggies and fruits than I do! I feel so helpless and have no idea what's wrong.

If anyone has any advice, please help! Thank you very much.

Is she monitoring for herself what she eats...picking up the food, weighing it and logging it

Because really it's her journey not yours, and you can't do it for her

Yea she does it herself. I helped her for the first 2 days. By monitoring, I meant that I check her diary, or ask her how her logging was for the day.

Reading my post again, I realize I made myself sound like a control freak lol. No, my mom makes her own decisions (which are usually good). I just give her advice and support when she needs it. She's not good with technology, so I simply taught her how to log or use the barcode. She wants to change really badly.
