personal trainers

I am on vacation for a month and decided to work with a personal trainer, since one of my goals is to run a half marathon in October.
Any advice on working with a personal trainer?

I never worked with a trainer but I know several of them. Its another tool to get you where you want to go, but you have to do the work, not the trainer. obviously. I guess im saying Ive seen many people spend money on trainers and I watch them workout and shake my head. They could do much more. I'm not talking about those that are physically impaired. Its those who spend more time yapping than they do training!

I worked with a personal trainer for 6 weeks and loved it. When I started I could run 1/2 a mile and at the end of my 6 weeks I could run 5 miles. Now I am training on my own and really miss having him there. He was able to make me push myself harder than I thought I could. It is easier to slack a little while training when he is not looking. Thankfully I still see him at the gym and report my progress to him so I can't slack too much or he will call me on it. If you have a good trainer and you push yourself they are well worth the money spent.

I've worked with a personal trainer once a week for over a year now & ABSOLUTLY LOVE IT!!! I'm thrilled with how far I've come & don't think I could have without my trainer! Yes...I'm the one doing the work but they help push ya!

I have a trainer and love him!!! I see him 4 times a week. Since I connected with him via the local community college, I pay less for 4 sessions a week than I would for 2 sessions with anyone else.

I have been working with him for 3 months, lost 10% body fat and around 20 lbs so far. I plan on using him for the rest of the year (if the prices remain the same or close) and see what happens. I want to get down another 10% body fat and probably 30-40lbs (but this depends on how the body looks with the BF reduction)

My advice to you looking for a personal trainer; make sure you can talk to this person about your goals and that you "mesh" with him or her. The last thing you want to do is pay tons of money and not get anywhere because the trainer does not support your goals or understand what you are trying to accomplish.

Wow that is interesting to hear. I have given thought to becoming a licensed personal trainer because I have been through it baby and I truly believe I could help others. But first I have tro help myself!! Ive been working hard at the gym and getting nowhere because I just cant get control of my eating. I found this site through a company newsletter and I love it so far!! I feel right at home!! down almost 3 lbs!!

Don't be afraid to let them push you. They are a trainer and with all the knowledge, they KNOW what they are doing.

I personally don't scream at my people..I just keep them happy and motivated =)
