It's not meant to be easy. That's why it's called boot camp.

However, people are expected to work out at their own level -- not at any easy pace, but at a challenging one for their physical condition. In other words, it doesn't matter if you're out of shape or ultra-fit. Just work hard and do your best.

I take boot camp style classes currently. And I've tried similar classes offered indoor and outdoor at various facilities. I'm a sucker for Groupon and in my area facilities tend to offer drop in specials on holidays so I take advantage of those. Ones I've been to offer modifications to the fitness levels present. I enjoy them because I really like group classes and challenging myself and when I've gone to new classes members are always very welcoming and encouraging. Just go with an open mind and have fun. Good luck.

I completed one in mid December that started in the end of august. I haven't ever been a regular exerciser. When I started I wasn't doing any exercise. It will push you. But I haven't slowed down since!

In other words, don't expect an easy workout. Be prepared to work hard and, yes, suffer a bit. It will be worth it though, and you don't have to keep up with everyone else. I suspect that you'll find a LOT of out-of-shape people in these classes, so don't worry about not being terribly fit.

I take bootcamp 3 days a week for the last year. I am a cardio queen so the first month I was so sore I could barely move and thought what the hell was I thinking joining this. Now I am a lot stronger and my endurance is terriffic. It is definitely worth doing since I am not the type of person that will do strentgh training on my own. But be prepared to be sore for a bit if you dont normally strength train.

I did Marine Corps boot camp...it was pretty tough.

In all seriousness though, I did a boot camp class a couple of years ago and ended up dropping it because I found it to be disappointingly easy...but it's largely going to depend on your level of fitness. If you're totally out of shape, it's probably pretty tough.

I just did a drop in class a couple weeks ago and I felt that way. Still a good workout and able to modify with weights on a couple of the exercises.

It did not work for me. It was too hard, the class was geared to already fir people who wanted to go to the next level. Lots of "Spartacus" type workouts. I hated it. Reminded me of PE as a kid, and I was the fat one.
