I am in week 30 of Kaiser Optifast program. I was monitoring and doing well till week 28, exercising, walking etc. I had lost 40 lbs and reached the weight I wanted to. Since week 28, I have started gaining weight and have gained 5 lbs in 2 weeks. I am feeling anxious and concerned. I do not want to go back to the old self. Please give me suggestions to start loosing again and stay on track.

Are you surprised? You have been starving yourself. Your body and mind need a refill.

Use MFP as intended and recommended. Stay healthy, lose weight in a sustainable way and keep it off forever.

These programs have a maintenance program..where the shakes are reduced and meals re-introduced over a period of time....did you follow that?

Optifast is a VCLD and low carb with it....if you quit cold turkey, it is not surprising you will have put on weight.

Expect a bit of a gain. You can probably get a handle on it if you start logging your food and eating an appropriate amount of calories.

Unfortunately, you are now going to have to learn what the Optifast program doesn't teach. Portion control and how to live in the real world with food.

Fortunately, you are in a good place to do it. MFP works, if you use it.

Watch your calories, you gained because you ate more than usual. It might have been water weight too. Those 5 pounds can come off easily with diet and exercise.. do not starve yourself

The 26 week optifast program does indeed teach portion control and how to live in the real world with food. We are given all the tools, we just need to use them first as we transition to food and then for the rest of our lives.
