Average Weight and Goal Settings for Musclebuilding

Hello!

A few quick questions.

How do you setup myfitnesspal if your goal is not to lose weight but to build muscle.

My fitness profile is as follows:
Current Weight: 177 lbs
Height: 6'2"
Age: 29
Activity level: Alternate days of running and weightlifting (1 rest day) - desk job

• Whats the average weight for a guy my age/height who wants to be lean (I would guess about 200 lbs?). Is 177 lbs to low. Do I need to be adding some pounds (muscle).

• For my goal, what is the average amount of pounds to gain muscle mass weekly? (0.5, 1?). That being gain muscle not fat.

Im really worried about eating too much and putting on fat instead of muscle. I know, you have to eat to bulk up but in the past I cant seem to get the formula right. My guy keeps adding on the pounds.

Thanks!

    1. go into MFP and set it for .5 or 1 pound per week gain.
    2. realize that if you are going to gain muscle you ARE going to gain fat, there is nothing you can do about it. Your body is not efficient enough to convert 100% of excess energy into muscle.
    3. if you are going to do a bulk, I would suggest cutting cardio back to 30 minutes per week.
    4. What is your current lifting program? Is it a homemade program or structured one?
    5. what is your current body fat%?
