Abby I would love to see what most ppl cosplay as over in London. You could always happen to go and run into them lol0

Marzi congratulations on your weightloss so far very impressive. And it does look like the painting would be very tedious lol and thank you for sharing. I you're open to costumes outside of avengers but still superhero so think you could make a good kitty pride from Xmen. And when you get to your goal weight the xmen uniform would really show of your accomplishment
Thank you! I'm not an Xmen fan, unfourtunately... but yeah, I do want something that can show off what I'll have achieved. Maybe I could try Black Widow or Lust from Fullmetal Alchemist...0 -
Ahh lust would be a great one. I like fma but I don't think there's a char Id cosplay from there. I was thinking of Maybe dabbling in naruto Dbz or Kenshen if I were to do an anime0

I love how geeky this is. These are lovely pictures, too.
I just want to fit into one of my bodices this year without it looking insane or making me look inhuman, which, as a squishy person, happens way too much. I have one with extra panels attached from a similar style bodice and would like to make it so that i can get rid of those, too.
One of these days I need to come up with a creative cosplay for the convention I work at.0 -
I did Christine from The Phantom of the Opera last year but I was fat!Christine. I'd like to dress up again but as a more believable ballet girl this time, lol. I'd also like to dress up as Columbia from Rocky Horror, I think that'd be fun.0

Njgamer I had to look up what a bodice is. I always thought tht was a corset0

Again it seems like my post was cut in half. Maybe it's my phone an I just can't see it? Hopefully I'm not double posting.
Nj gamer what was the costume that you wore that needed that?
Paper wings that's a good idea I never seen anyone be Christine. Can you sing like her too!?

A corset is usually strapless and can go under or over the bust and down to the hips. They lace up in the back. A bodice tends to stop at the waist and usually has straps. They are mostly under the bust and also lace up in the front. It's subtle, but corsets didn't really exist until later. Oh, historically, a corset is worn under clothing traditionally as shapewear, whereas a bodice was acceptable to be worn visibly.
It's for Renaissance Faire. I try and make it every year. I've also worn full garb for certain conventions here in NJ. I love dressing up but don't get the opportunity to do it much.
Rocky Horror! I haven't been to a live show in so long!0 -
Haha, that's funny I was inspired by the same thing I dressed up as Mr T this past Halloween and had a great time but had to admit Mr T had gone to seed a bid so I promised myself that for 2015 I would go to the next party as Bain but would look the part. That's was 18 weeks and approaching 42 pounds ago!!
Amazing how silly things can kick start your motivation!
Good luck0 -
Wow amg congrats on the weightloss! An you can't go wrong with Bain. We now have a cat woman and Bain in this thread. Any batman or robin? Lol0

Njgamer well there's my setting new I learned today. I'm going be looking for things going on in the south jersey philly area this year let me know if you know of any0

Just discovered this thread!
I'm aiming to lose around 20lbs for London Expo in May for my current cosplays (lycra is VERY unforgiving).
I'm not sure if anyone else has tried this but using the soundtrack to the cosplay as a motivator when working out. Really forces me to focus on what i'm aiming for.0 -

Oh wow. There are tons of things that happen in the Philly and Central/South NJ! It all depends on what genre you're looking for. I can maybe give you information. I do volunteer work one in Somerset, NJ every year and there's always volunteer opportunities for people to go to other events, some further away.0 -

If that doesn't keep you focused, I'm not sure what will! This is a genius idea.0 -

I usually go to Jenk's in Point Beach, and a couple of parties in Freehold, one in a hotel pretty adult, the other at iPlay, which is mixed.
Hallowe'en has been a big motivation for years, I wanted to do something for ages, but never could because of my size.
Finally last year I got to do it, with the help of a tight belt and a lot of holding in my stomach (uncomfortable the whole night, for three parties); knowing my past I feared I'd not get another shot at it, so I bit the bullet and did it. I wish I had waited until this Hallowe'en, but... You Only Live Twice (now there's an idea for this year), right?

My husband & I got married very young and had four kids in seven years. I was the fat, frumpy, exhausted mom. I would hear about this party on the radio & it would make me feel terrible about myself.
This year we're going! I'm going to find the hottest costume ever & we're going to party with people half our age, lol. We'll probably never do something like this again, haha, but I can't wait!
Lol I did this last year for the first time, being a mom young and never doing the "club thing". I was miserable, it was crowded and I felt like an old fogey who just wanted to go home and get in bed. LOL
I am guessing this will be me at Soundwave in 4 weeks time lol. Trying to keep an open mind tho :-D0 -

At that point, it was around 50lbs, I think I was somewhere around 200 at the time.
As far as next year, I'm not sure. As I hinted, one thought is Sean Connery's 007, as it's a little easier since he was a bit more casual than those who follow. Another was a WW II pilot. I wanted to be a fighter pilot as a kid, I always wanted a bomber jacket. I finally bought one that I don't look like I could be flown in the war (i.e. a blimp), so I may go for the full thing.
Or maybe Tim Taylor. I'd done Al Borland last year. Of course this year, at one party, someone showed up as Wilson and I was kicking myself.
Of course, I have to keep it all off, which 9 months away is difficult to foretell.
As far as fab, thanks. At the time, as I had, I was holding it in constantly, a 200lb Indy just wouldn't look right (don't look above the belt in that photo ). I've contemplated doing it again as I expect it to be no problem this year and as I went all out and spent so much (yes that's a real whip, real jacket, the correct shoulder bag - probably close to $500-600) it will definitely get used again.0 -
Wow that is an awesome Indie, you look perfect.0
