When I first started, I was very unhealthy I would eat takeaway 3 times a week, and have chocolate and lollies daily. No vegetables, no water. I truly believe you got to really hit rock bottom to actually want to do something about your weight. It happened, it was a hot and sticky day and I was wearing a dress and my legs were rubbing together and oh boy, it was painful!!! That was my breaking point, I was in that much pain, and ever since then haven’t stopped. I went for a size 14-16 to a size 8-10. I have lost a total of 16.4 kilograms and have cut my body fat from 40% to 19%. I have achieved so much, and gained my confidence back. It took me a total of 1.5 years, it hasn’t been easy, at times I’ve wanted to give up because it was just to hard and I wasn’t seeing any progress. But I kept eating clean and exercising and this is when i started to see progress.
The most important thing about losing body fat is that if you see it as a lifestyle change, and not a diet. I went from eating takeaway 3-5 times a week and eating zero vegetables, to eating more vegetables and barely any takeaway. Not only has this changed my whole life around… I believe I have the knowledge and experience to help others now and to me that is an excellent achievement.
However, I’m not finished yet and I believe I still have a long journey ahead of me, I am soo excited for what the future holds!
Tips:
It really is a life changing experience, you will learn so much along the way. It really is 80% what you eat and 20% is exercise.
The food you eat doesn’t have to be boring – enjoy your food. I have a page on facebook with clean recipes – let me know if you’d like the link. E.g. I eat pancakes three times per week – however they are clean as can be.
Packed with protein and fiber.
If you haven’t heard of a fitbit before, do some research they are great little things. I have found it has given me more motivation to be active during the day. Make a goal and stick to it!
Get enough sleep - this is so important. Research shows that not enough sleep can increase your appetite and makes you crave sugar.
Drink heaps for water – try aim for 2-3 litres per day, more if you are exercising. Drinking detoxifies your body.
Remember muscle weights the same as fat, however muscle is way more leaner than fat. – incorporate more weight training into your exercise routine. – be aware you the scales might not move, however you’ll lose inches.
See it as a lifestyle change, not a diet.
Imagine you are a car, for it to work, you must fuel it with the right foods.
Keep pushing through, you can do this!!!
