i've manually set my daily cal intake to 1000 from the 1200 MFP automatically recommended as otherwise my loss would only be 0.7lb a week even with gym & walking. Is this a bad idea?

It does sound to severe, and hard to maintain, how much weight are you wanting to lose?0

That does sound really low, and I agree with vecchi - very hard to maintain as well.0

Are you tiny? Otherwise it sounds very low and aggressive.0

I'm only 5ft2 and want to lose a stone.0

I think if you're focusing on only eating foods that are highly nutritious (so you're supporting the growth of healthy cells and a healthy you!), then at your height you'd probably do fine. If your calories are mostly coming from foods that are deficient in essential nutrients, then you might want to reconsider.
If you fill up mostly on lots of different vegetables, you certainly would never go hungry, and they are very low calorie so you'd still have room for other sources of healthy calories. Plus you'd be flooding your system with lots of phytonutrients which promote good health.

You only have 14lbs to lose; don't be so aggressive.
