Leg routines for bad Knees

I am looking for routines for Legs day that are gentle on the knees for people with knee injuries or knee problems. I have googled it but as usual I find too much information and quite confusing. It looks like legs extensions are not recommended (although it seems quite a gentle move). Can someone (that knows) recommend a good routine??

I have Osteoarthritis in my right knee;
depending what the nature of your injury/ ailments you SHOULD be able to do some leg exercises,
fist things first; less bodyweight helps a lot as you put less load on the knees;
exercises; I do leg extensions, leg curls, calf raises, adductor machine, abductor machine
with the extensions & curls it's just important that you don't fully rotate the joint; i.e. you fully extend but curl the knee joint only to about 3/4 to full;
the extra muscle gained also really helps relieve joint pain,
good luck :flowerforyou:0 -
Thank you. I started doing some research out of curiosity for my sister, she has something related to the cartilage in her knee ( I can't remember exactly the name), but amazingly she has to start having medication (for the rest of her life), she was advised to lose as much weight as possible (she is already in a healthy range weight, 58kg). But she was advise not to squat or any movement that really puts stress in the knee. I am thinking what kind of exercise routine she can incorporate to build muscle ("good amount of muscle") that eventually could reinforce the area and if that would allow her in the long run to stop the medication.0

Any exercise is 'knee friendly' if done properly. She might have to find a qualified trainer, or pt that can help her with form.
The only exercises I would avoid would be leg extensions, and possibly lunges.0 -

it sounds like she has osteoarthritis, you wear the cartilage down/ away & the bones rub together which is both painful & irreparable,
go ahead with my first post; and avoid lunges, squats etc which fully bend the knee, stick to 3/4, i've built good muscle & lost weight and (touch wood) have had very little pain since Xmas0
