How to calculate calories burned?

I have been using Brenda Dygraf's Air Climber for 2 weeks now. This is starting the 3rd week. The only problem I am having with it is that, the personal computer doesn't work. I have been very good about counting my calories every day but, how can I figure out the calories burned? I change up the routine so every day is different. On Saturday I do 2 routines because I have the time. I want to make sure I am eating enough calories. I have lost 5 lbs so far so, I guess I am doing something right. I'll be 61 y/o next month and have arthritis in my knee. So far, this is the only thing I have found that doesn't bother me at all.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

"the personal computer doesn't work" - don't understand ??
A suitably set up heart rate monitor will measure your calorie burn fairly well.0 -
After a 20 min workout, it will say only say 7 min and change and only 30 calories burned. I tried changing the batteries and even bought a new one. It did the same thing so, I returned it. I had not thought of a heart rate monitor but, makes sense.
Thank you for your reply.0
