Does anyone know if you can freeze avocado after it has been peeled?

I mash it into guacamole with a little lime juice and salt and freeze it that way all the time. Not sure how the texture of a whole avocado would be after freezing and thawing.

I've tried halving an avocado and freezing the halves, but find it gets stringy. It's better when already mashed then frozen.

Yes you can. We used to peel, remove the seed and then freeze them on a tray (so they'd not stick together) and then once frozen put them in Ziploc bags. They seemed to thaw well. And I thought they tasted fine after frozen.

I've done it both ways- freezing halves and mashing (actually pureeing in the blender) before freezing. I usually use frozen avocado as a spread for my egg sammies in the morning, so pureed is just easier. I wouldn't eat frozen avocado just plain, the texture does suffer a bit either way. It's just fine to cook with though.

ETA: When I freeze the halves, I freeze them still in the skin. Doubt peeling would have any effect though.
