Iron nutrient in MFP, answer question please?

I was wondering what MFP bases it's nutrient percentages on. Being almost 50 and a woman, my iron needs are 8mg/daily.

As I was tracking my iron in MFP, I realized that I did not even know how they got that number for me or for the other nutrients as well, esp. calcium.

Anyone can point in the direction of help or know the answer? The only other option I guess is to do it on paper and ignore MFP nutrient counting.

TIA

Mine is 100mg so yeah... not sure how they got 8mg. Maybe try recalculating?

It can't be mg's because 45mg's is the most you should have daily.

I think they are a percentage of the RDA.

Yep, they use the recommended daily allowance as per the U.S. guidelines. As far as I know it's probably best to count those without MFP. Good luck!

Right, which is not a good answer since women over 50 have a lower iron need.

Guess I have to calculate on paper.

    Thanks for the input folks!!!!
