"You eat LOADS now" say my family

Ok so, I have tried since the start of the year to lose weight and though not finding what works for me, being too strict and giving up, being too lax and gaining, I have finally found what works for me and started this a mere two days ago, May 31st. Anyway bit of backstory, I live in a largish family, but we all prepare our own breakfast/lunch and then all eat together for the main meal (dinner) which is usually not that unhealthy maybe a meat/fish with some kind of potato/legume and veggies. Some members of my family are healthier than others. So, now I eat a decent size breakfast, smallish lunch, a snack of fruits/vegetables and then dinner, yet my parents have started commenting on how much time I spend on food (I try and prepare lunches and things the day before) and how much I eat. I think before i used to eat like 70% secretly bad things so now i eat openly so to speak which keeps me on track as i cant really cheat. It's not really fair when they are quite a bit older than me and so don't need to eat as much than me. They also don't really exercise, whereas I do most days a week and so also need more. I guess it just annoys me, and when I do try and tell them about why I am doing this they genuinely do not care. Not in a mean way, it's just they believe that everyone is in charge of what they eat and things. When they say things like this, and I am sure other people will begin too, I want to explain my new way of living, but not like lecture them/be too forceful or sound weird. Anyway, I don't really know what the point of this was, just to get it off my chest I guess and talk to people who hopefully understand and are willing to listen

I totally understand. It is a personal journey and everyone has an opinion. If it was me, I would say that after much research, I have found what works for me and eating more is needed with the additional exercise. Something like that. That way you are sounding preachy just this is what I found that works for me.0

They've noticed a change, and they're not sure what to make of it yet.
Keep on doing what you're doing, and eventually as they see you getting healthy they'll be ok with it.0 -
I have a funny feeling they may be stuck in the mindset that on a "diet" you should be eating next to nothing! Don't let it get to you too much. You have figured out what works for you, and you are now putting it into practice. They will stop saying things when they realise how well it is working!0

I totally get that, I'm 6'4" and at 260 right now
I work out with martial arts 2 days a week and run the other weekdays.
Weekends are active enough with kids
My wife by contrast is 4'11-1/2" and weighs about 105....she eats and does what she wants and never gains....ever.
dang hummingbird metabolism.
Now that I am moving away from eating lunches out during the week and eating far less calorie dense food she thinks all I am doing is eating
(she's right)
Keep doing what you are doing and people will get it after a while0 -
HAHA My mom used to complain constantly that I was in the kitchen because when you stop eating processed crap (which is ALL she eats) you have to take more time to pack lunches and cook dinners then the time it takes to open the freezer
Edit: THankfully I moved back out of her place a while ago now and can do whatever I want in my kitchen sans judgement0
