Weight loss with diet and exercise...where am I going wrong?!

Hi all,

Need some advice... I've been targeted around 1200 calories on here plus extra for any exercise and I'm usual under...bar 3 days in the past 3 weeks.

I go to circuits twice a week and run 5k twice a week too, occasional swim thrown in too.

Why is my weight staying the same? I'm 5'7 & 140lbs...

Any tips/tricks or mistakes I'm making?

Any help much appreciated!

    If you would like specific advice you will need to set your diary to public, otherwise you'll just get the generic - weigh and log accurately and carefully and don't overestimate calorie burns from exercise

    Does your caloric intake bounce around quite a bit? I like to have my calorie goal the same every day regardless of my exercise, and I adjust as needed every 2-3 weeks so that I am averaging good progress towards my goal (in your case, ~1 lb/week). Are you exercising the 4 days/week? Maybe you should ramp up the intensity and do some interval training like running full force 40 yard sprints for 6 times instead of doing a 5K at a moderate pace. You'll end up burning more calories that way. Also, have you done low calories for a long time?

    5'7 and 140 is probably about the right weight for you, your BMI is in normal range. Now HOW it looks on you is a different story.

    You need to do a heavy weight program more than likely to shape yourself. I am going to do strong lifts 5X5 eventually. I am also reading "The News Rules for Lifting for Woman". Very good book to explain it all.

    Sorry..diary settings changed...had no idea!

    I vary my exercise quite often, for example I'm doing Pump tonight and circuts varies with HIIT being part of it... I've been doing this for 3 weeks and although I have been a regular gym goer for a few years after surgery took 6 months out... Lost 5lb in te first week which was nuts but I'm guessing water and not a lb since...more likely put it on!

    I am quite happy with how I look but there is always room for improvement! Would like to drop 6lb so if I want to have a cake now and then I won't have to feel too guilty :p
