Today is the first proper day back in the gym. Manage to curtail my eating habits now I'm gonna pay. What should be the tactic used to gently ease an old timer back?

    Maybe try 15-20 minute on a treadmill at a slight incline.

    Increase the incline once you're back into the swing of things.

    Moderate strength training - YouTube has TONS of strength training ideas. You can literally have a brand new workout every day is you so choose.

    Just depends what your personal preferences.
