Should I still do my work out today?

I started sl 5x5 last week on Wednesday so today is day 3. I pumped up my calories to 1500-1700 calories a day depending on how hungry I am. Well I feel like death today!!! I am pretty sure I have the flu and I want to just sleep the day away. I have no appetite at all today I had coffee for breakfast and I will be having soup and a few slices of turkey for lunch. There is no way I will make it to my goal today. I might 1000 if I eat calorie dense food at dinner (If I am hungry for dinner) I feel as tho I can still do my work out but should I still do it if I I can not get enough protein or calories in general in for the day? Will this just make me feel worse if I do it? I really don't want to make myself sicker for longer because I am doing a hard work out with little food in my system.

I always work out unless I'm entirely too sick to do it, which is rare. I usually feel better after. You might not get all 5 sets in, but if it were me I wouldn't just scrap it.0

nobody else wants your germs. if you have the flu, stay home and rest.0
-
Ok I will give it my all and see how well it goes. who knows maybe I will actually in the mood to eat dinner after0
-
I wouldn't. Feeling like death... can't eat enough... sounds like you need the rest.0

Since you work out at home, do something light today and see how you feel tomorrow.0

IMHO, if you feel like death, and especially if you really do have the flu, you really shouldn't work out. Your body is already under enough stress. Working out with inadequate calorie intake sounds like a recipe for getting even sicker or being sick longer than you need to be. Rest!0

You either have a bug (flu or cold) or your body is telling you you’re training too hard for what you’re eating.
How are your macros? If you’re a carb fueled person, you’ll need to ensure you’re continuing to get enough carbs. And since you’re lifting, you’ll need to ensure you have enough protein.
The best way I’ve heard it put. You’re building a house, you need raw materials (protein) and you need energy (carbs or fat, depending on your adaptation).0 -
If your symptoms are above the neck, it's okay to work out. If they're below the neck, you really shouldn't. Eat, powersleep, get well.0

I worked out through the flu and I honestly felt a little better after working out. I didn't go with a full workout, instead I did low impact for 20 minutes. I say if you're thinking about working out chances are you feel you're up to the task.0

Listen to your body. If you feel that crappy, then get some rest. Today was my first day back on the weights since last Wednesday (starting feeling crappy Thursday night), and I was weak as a kitten -- had to seriously deload just to make it through the sets.0

Not aimed at anyone specific but someone who actually has the "flu" has Influenza. If you really have Influenza you CANNOT physically get out of bed, much less contemplate even thinking about working out. If you can still walk and use your brain for coherent thought you have a bad cold. It might be a very bad cold, but it's NOT Influenza.
Sorry for the rant, it's a pet peeve of mine...0 -
Possible flu?
F NO.0 -
Rest! You may just prolong feeling like death0

Listen to your body. Rest, hydration, and proper eating/medication are always the best answers when dealing with the flu, but if you have the energy then go for it.0

what @#$% advice.
If you're sick, or feeling as though you're getting sick, take a day off and give the rest and nutrients your body needs to get better.
When you workout, you'll put your body at more strain (immune system will have to work harder) and your body will most likely give in, and you'll become sick.

If you're sick rest. You will probably end up being worse off and missing a more time if you don't rest. Listen to your body.0

I was diagnosed with the flu and kept working out running. It took me 6 weeks to get over it but definitely had the flu. Looking back on it, it wasn't a great idea.0 -

WAT?
Way back in the dark ages, we had a saying "colds have bad endurance", basically meaning if you felt a cold coming on, you could often shake it by working out. By the time you were full-on sick, you were screwed. Doubt it would work for flu, 'tho -- usually the first sign of flu is the feeling you've been repeatedly run over by a mac truck (although occasionally you'll get lucky and it's a strain close enough to one you've had in the past or been immunized against and your body can fight it off before it goes full-bore on ya).

If you're a sneezing snotmonster or have a headache, but you don't have a fever or a hacking cough, working out is fine. (Inconsiderate in a gym, but hey... You're not hurting yourself).
If you have a fever, a hacking cough, muscle aches, chest pain, or the squirts, nope, don't work out, you need to rest and get well.0 -

usually when I have the flu I have a fever too. Without a fever means to me it is not the flu.

The flu in the States is in epidemic portions. If you feel sick, you should stay home. If you feel a little under the weather and are sure its not, Go and work out. If you unsure, do a core set at home, there are plenty of Youtube videos that will let you at least hit your core w/o weights. This is were you will learn to listen to your body. What is seriously telling you?
PS. I do hope you feel better soon.0 -

Bingo! If your symptoms are above the neck, it ain't the flu and you can work out!0 -

I would listen to your body and just sleep, get fluids and get better. When you don't feel like death and your appetite returns then you can workout.0 -
Took a nap instead! And to the person who said if you truly have the flu you physically can't get out of bed, to this I say HAHA! I'm a mother of 2 under the age of 5 I can power through anything!0
