Going on holiday in 8 weeks and I would really like to feel comfortable in a bikini. What are some great exercised to slim down the legs and lower stomach that doesn't involve doing sit ups and lunges?

Cardio!...obviously. Any exercise that keeps your heart rate elevated for an extended period will burn the most calories.
Speed roping (jump roping), is a great high-intensity, low-impact workout.
60 seconds on (as fast as you can), then 30 seconds rest. Repeat for 15 minutes.
You'll feel it in your calves, and should feel it in your core as you'll need to stabilize your body as your jumping.
Leg raises. You'll really work your core as you lift your legs to a 90 degree angle with your body.
Rowing. Really a full body workout when done with proper form.0
