Working out calories for some made broth/stock

How would I work out the calories for the stock I just made?
1.2kgs beef bones
150g brown onion
3 star anise
1 tsp fennel seed
2 inch piece of ginger
3 cloves
12 cups of water

Everything is removed from the pot to leave the clear broth. I also boiled the bones prior for 8-10 minutes to clean the grot, scum and fat off prior to cooking.

Thanks in advance

  • Once you finnish your broth go to the nearest lab to check them, otherwise... good luck, don't worry about the calories of homemade broth, eat it, is good for you.

The recipe maker won't work for that?
  • The recipe maker doesn't really work for stock as it assumes you leave everything in and consume it, whereas in stock you take it out as it was added for the flavour not to bulk it out...if that makes sense.

I totally agree it's great for you, yummy too.

If you have already removed all the fat and flavourings from it, then it will be pretty low in calories - I picked a random entry from the databse to use for homemade stock - it comes in at about 40cal/cup which I figured sounded close enough and possibly on the generous side. I cool my stock once it is made and skim the fat off at that stage rather than at the start.
