Best time to go to the gym?

I usually go to the gym on a morning or on a night around 9pm. Today I was off work so went around 2:30pm. I did the same exercise for the same amount of time but found it really hard, still aching now. Is there a time that is particularly better than others?
Thanks

Really it just depends on your schedule. I have heard that most people's energy levels drop most in the afternoon, so maybe that has something to do with it?

Personally I prefer to go in the morning before work, usually around 6:15am or after work, around 6pm. I find that I work out better on an empty stomach and am less likely to overeat after I have worked out.

whats said above , best time is individual some people are mornings others are nights. Getting in the gym is the big thing.

Only other point id make is that I find the busy time is obviously 4-8pm. I find the gym busy at the moment becayse of the NY resolutioners.

I like going before work if I can. I'm lucky to see more than 5 people in the gym at 1:30 in the morning. I have more energy when I get up plus I can get on nearly anything I want without having to wait for someone else.

There is a very large sign on the wall at my gym.
When should you work out? When you feel like it.
If it feels better to go in the evening, go then. It is very personal, just go.

Anytime within a given 24 hour period...

You need to workout when it's best for you...some people have more energy in the morning and have better workouts in the morning...I personally do much better in the weight room in the evening...it's a personal preference thing, there is no universally better time to workout.

whatever works for you, just GO! :) i go with my neighbor on tuesday and thurs afternoons and then on sunday mornings super early. those are the times that work with both of our schedules, so thats when we go! LOL Now, i PREFER the morning, but that's just because I have more energy in the morning usually.

Yep. There isn't anything about body rhythms that should make you more sore at one time than another...you might just be having a slightly off day.

I prefer going a night. Not that my schedule permits me to go in the morning but even if it did I just couldn't imagine feeling good and having a good day after waking up and getting sweaty

    whelp...thanks for CONTRIBUTING.

to the OP, whatever time is good for you. if you get used to working out at a particular time, your body will get used to it, and other times will feel weird....until you get used to them too.

Whatever works with your schedule and energy levels.. if I workout in the morning I'm utterly exhausted the rest of the day. If I work out around lunchtime, I'm good. Plus it's not busy then! 4pm the gym is so busy it's hard for me to focus. I'm not a morning person though so that's probably why working out early is a death sentence to my energy for the rest of the day.

Thanks for all the comments/advice. I'll stick with night time i seem to have more energy then and don't ache the next day like I am now - afternoons definitely don't work for me lol x
