I am a new member and have been using the Total gym for part of my exercise routine. Is there a way to calculate calories burnt using MFP?

I would calculate how much you can burn estimated - add those into your daily intake. Then subtract what you believe you would need to sustain weight loss. Of course, this is the method by which the pro-processed food lobby on MFP would say.

No, you need a wear device that calculates your calories burned. I bought an Omron HR-310 Heart Rate Monitor with Chest Strap from Amazon for $19. Its a discontinued model but a lot of fitness trackers have this feature. It will measure your calories burned. I also have a Schwinn 130 Upright Exercise Bike that measures your heart rate with sensors in the handle bars. Both were within 1 calorie of each other when used at the same time. Both devices have you input your sex, height, and weight to kick out the calories. One thing I did notice is that MFP would always give me a higher calorie number or my "rides". I'm concluding that as I increase my stationary bike resistance over time they will have closer calorie numbers.
