Hello !!
My name is Melanie and I am a 22 year old type 1 Diabetic . I have been struggling with this chronic disorder which has resulted in hospital visits. I was never 'obese' but I was a little chunky almost my entire life. When I was a senior in high school I was losing so much weight extremely fast. Ever woman's dream, right?! Well I ended up in the hospital and medically considered to be in comatose. I was weighed at 94lbs.... After that, I took care of my blood sugar very well ! My A1C was literally perfect!! Then I noticed how I was getting big... I started skipping insulin in order to lose weight and stay thin. Of course, the doctors were so worried and I just didn't want to listen. No woman, especially at my age, wants to be big. It wasn't until now, at the age of 22, did I take my disease seriously. My new doctor, who is by far amazing, snapped me back to reality. I rather work hard at being healthy than lose a foot, go blind, or worse die. I could even become infertile if I didn't control my blood sugar levels. I now am at a steady weight of 137lbs. And I want to lose 20lbs. of body fat.
I know this journey will require hard work and patience, but this will be healthier for me and I couldn't be more proud of myself!!
I would love to make some friends on here who can help me stay focused when or if I try to give up. Let's push each other so we can live a healthy life!
