So, I did the whole DNA testing for weight loss and it came back with the same ole same ole- low carb diet is best for me for medical reasons. Okay, great so I keep doing what I'm doing and continue to see no results? But alas! I see they recommend 40% carbs 30% protein and 30% fat...my nutritionist had me on like 20 carbs total a day not even 30% and so somehow with only a slight 15 minute bump in my walking and an increase in carbs and in 4 days I have lost 7 lbs. Whats up with this? I am using the same scale as before its a weight watchers digital scale, and is off by my doctors old fashioned scale by 3lbs which I hear is normal so maybe I only lost 4 but still? My goal is 77 lbs by October this year- is this doable or is this just the change shocked my body and is only water loss?

A DNA test for low carb diet?? I am flummoxed, never even heard of that. Only thing I know is calories in and calories out.0

Probably a few things- the discrepancy in the scales (my doctor's scales weight light, which is kind of fun), and of course water weight will come off quickly in the first week. I think it should level out soon. As far as 77 by October- that is only 9 months away so in my opinion that is a pretty aggressive goal - 8 pounds a month. I think 5-6 pounds per month is more reasonable, but good luck to you. I've never done a DNA test for weight loss. I wonder what it would say for me?? Hmmmmm.0

Yes, DNA testing is the "new thing" apparently, they also test you for sensitivities to some drugs a person that is overweight may be put on to discern if they will have high probability to adverse reactions. Apparently I can't ever be put on 2 cholesterol meds because my metabolism will eat up the active ingredient and would do me no good lol. One drug for thinning blood would kill me. So those things were interesting to find out. Basically they test your DNA for pre-disposition to obesity and the horrible things like diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease etc and also if your insulin resistant and which carbs you should eat vs ones your more sensitive to. Turns out I can eat rice and potatoes in moderation with no issue but someone else may not be able to handle them at all. I even found out that my ethnicity played a big part in this- Asian and American Indian made me less tolerable to dairy- which I totally overate and never even thought of. The company is called Pathway Genomics and they were doing it for free at some local offices in my area and I happened to qualify for free diagnostics. I also have a coach to call to help me with recipes to boost my weight loss and to talk about things I'm totally addicted to in order to find alternatives or at least make them less evil for me to eat And btw as of today I lost another 2 lbs...this is so weird but I'm not starving and its working so there must be something to it.0

What? DNA testing for weight loss? No, sorry, your genes do not impact physics. Less calories in than out is how you lose weight.0 -

While true no one reacts to medication the same way as a mother person, this is a load of garbage.
So how much did you pay for these tests that are basically full of bro science?0 -

Water. Happens to most people here to some extent - 6.5 lb in the fist week for me. That's why I don't even look at my first week's data as informative to any possible purpose - except that obviously I am prone to keep a lot of water weight, like you0
