My hubby and I are ditching the kids with grandma tomorrow and are going to have an errand day/date night which is awesome and so badly needed :smiling_imp:

However, I will be stuck in a vehicle most of the day and eating out at least twice so what snacks should I pack to avoid gas station food and pizza?

Apples, bananas, carrots, salad in a jar, hard boiled eggs, unsalted nuts or any foods you would normally eat and can handle a cooler. Just make sure when you eat out that you choose healthy foods. I don't like when I take a road trip and the only food available is junk. My husband and I once took a trip 150 miles one way from home. The entire way the only food available at the gas stations were junk, no fruit, nothing healthy. I finally found some hard boiled eggs about 25 miles from our destination. I live in small town America and that road trip put me further down the road in small town. I never go without food in a cooler now. We once took a 5 day trip and only ate out three times because I cooked and packed many meals in mason jars. All we had to do was heat them up in the microwave in our hotel room.

    Have a nice trip.

Wow, thats impressive :) my only cooler atm is a huge one we use for camping (a little much for a one-night stay) but I will definitely take some of your suggestions

Sure, I packed all meals in mason jars, they stay very cold and you just keep adding ice to the cooler. You could get a small cooler for your trip, one that holds say a 12 pack of cans? I don't put cans but the room would be good for a short trip.

This is what my girlfriend and I do when we go on a day or weekend outing. Not only is it healthier, but much less expensive.
