Help! Mind on my food, food on my mind...

Seems no matter what I do, I am constantly thinking about food: the next time I'm going to eat, the last thing I ate, how much I want to just eat, eat, and eat some more. I've tried having a huge jug of water with me at all times, chewing sugar-free gum (my jaw is starting to get stiff), going shopping, reading, getting work done on my computer-- no matter what, all I can think of food!! I hate this so much.
Every time I've tried to lose weight, it ends in a cycle of binge eating I feel like I can't overcome. I've been keeping track of calories for 26 days, haven't seen much of a difference, and I'm starting to feel like one of these binges is going to happen soon and I'm going to give up... again. I don't want that. I want so badly to be successful this time... what should I do? What can I do? Any help/advice/support is greatly appreciated. C.

Sounds like you may need to increase your daily calories. Go to website http://calorieline.com/tools/tdee
You will get a better understanding how your TDEE will help. Good luck. I have symphony for you. Good luck.1 -
What are your stats? How many calories do you eat a day? Have you lost any weight yet?
Honestly, I think about food a lot. That's okay. Part of the reason is because I'm pre logging in my head, and partly because I go in and dead lift 195 and then want to eat my whole house. Once you get the hang of it, you learn how to fit a lot of filling foods within your calorie deficit, and not to restrict the things you enjoy.1 -
I've been at this for a while, and I still have this same problem. Even when I'm not hungry, I think about food. When I'm going to eat again...what I'm going to have. I've managed to successfully lose a lot of weight since last August, but that is something that has not changed. I sometimes wonder if it's part of my OCD as I do have that. I just try to live with it and realize that just because I'm thinking about food all the time doesn't mean I need to be eating it all the time. My urge to eat all the time along with the obsessive thinking has died down as I have made changes and ensure that I am eating enough, but the thoughts of food are still there. I wish I had some advice for you other than try not to turn your thoughts of food into the act of overeating. Make sure you are eating enough calories and hitting your macros. Learn to take cues from your body of when you are ACTUALLY hungry rather than when you are just bored, stressed, etc. Also, fit some things into your diet that you really enjoy. That has helped me. I love deserts, so I have one daily and fit it in my calories. It helps stop the urge to eat even when the thoughts are there because I'm not denying myself foods I love. It takes some work to get the hang of it all, but you can do it.1

I also vote for increasing your calories. Forget the scales for a few weeks and just focus on establishing healthy habits. (Logging, exercising, getting those vegetables in, meeting your macros). It's those habits that are going to get you where you want to go. Once you start feeling better drop your calorie goal down so that you feel a little hungry but not obsessed. Raising your calorie goal for a while IS NOT FAILING. Walking away is.

Thank you. I try to tell myself something similar to this, but it's nice to hear it from someone else.2 -
I am such a glutton, I tell myself enough is enough and making myself stop. I would just keep on eating if I didn't. I have plenty to eat but I always want more,so greedy1

Thanks, everyone! Feeling much better now. I think the reason why I was freaking out was because I had just cut back calories and was really hungry all the time since I didn't make the right choices that would keep me full. Now I'm eating more protein and veggies (bags and bags and bags of 'em) that really helps with this issue!!0
