I need help on this weight loss journey. I have been on a rollercoaster for my whole life and finally now I feel it is time to get something really started for good. Any ideas for a jump start and how to stay motivated? At this time I am unable to do any weight bearing exercise so have to rely mostly on food choices.

Good Luck Mike - first recommendation would be to get some friends and get hooked on this site/app. It can help with your healthy life cadence and accountability -if you have to log the crap you eat, you are less likely to eat crap. Regarding diet vs exercise - diet is 90% of weight loss. However, as you can, you need to do something and increase your protein intake to ensure you don't lose too much muscle during your weight loss journey -less muscle equals slower metabolism equals harder to keep weight off. For some folks that can't do load-bearing exercises, I have seen some use air rowers and just do the upper body portion to break a sweat and get the heart rate up. Also, I would recommend spending some time putting meals together that meet your goals - and, going to a website each day and look up success stories - some on here -some on bodybuilding.com, etc. There, you will see many examples of people that have conquered this - and, there are examples of all ages and weights.

    Take Care!!
