Anyone find journaling to be a successful tool in beating cravings/avoiding emotional eating?
I tried to get to the gym last night and gave up waiting in -15C windchill for a bus that was 20 min late. If I waited any longer I felt like my legs were going to fall off (and I didn't want to experience the same waiting for the bus back home, once it's late going, then it's late coming back because it's on a loop), so I gave up and walked back to my apartment. I was so upset I could throw something (but didn't). I missed getting to the gym/pool the day before too because the city was shut down due to a (very) wimpy snow storm. So yea, I was frustrated.
So that's the background. I ended up cuddled on the couch watching Netflix and craving the leftover pasta I had made for dinner. I made it through a few on the episodes of the show I started watching and then game over- had to have the pasta...and apparently had to cover it in melted cheese. Ugh. I had already eaten enough for my calorie goal for the day.
Anyone else been there? And has journaling or something else helped?

Yes! It's how I got through my emotional eating! Any time I found myself in the kitchen when I was genuinely NOT hungry, I forced myself to sit down and journal what was going on. By the time I was done, I didn't have the urge to hit the kitchen again. It WORKS!
