    OMGoodness folks. . .the idea that corsets do horrible things to your internal organs is a 19th century myth. They're not models of clothing to be worn to improve your health, but on the balance they don't do much more damage than is done to women in this century who never wear flats.

    I'm a volunteer docent at an outdoor museum and wear corsets on occasion. They're not that bad and not that good. I freely admit that as soon as my shift is over, I run to the staff restroom to change into a sports bra and a tshirt, but I'd happily stay in costume for a whole weekend if I ever needed to.

    ETA: I know many female reenactors who wear corsets for LONG stretches of time and have for many, many years and are models of good health.
