Find a good beginner program and follow it to the letter. Some good ones:
Starting Strength
Stronglifts 5x5
all pro beginner
New Rules of Lifting
Strong Curves0 -
I definitely recommend stronglifts 5x5 for a returning lifter! I used to lift 3-5 times a week but this past year or so I've been ill so gym dropped by the wayside. Using the 5x5 lifting regime, I'm now confident again in lifting. Is a quick workout which allows you to build weight pretty quickly; is 3 moves with 5 sets of 5.0

I am currently reading New Rules of Lifting for Women. I will definitely look at the other programs as well. Definitely felt better when I was lifting.0
