You can eat any food you want to and lose weight as long as you are eating at a caloric deficit. The color of your rice affects nothing.

    Stop the ricism.

ETA: I like to mix my brown and white rice. The mix is beautiful.

    Eat at a calorie deficit.
Brown rice has a slightly better nutritional profile than white. In the big picture YOU decide if it makes a difference for your health.

And eat at a calorie deficit.

ETA: I prefer brown rice. It's nuttier.

Haha. I like them both. White rice is fine. Enjoy.

I'm with ya, straight brown rice tastes like *kitten*. I recently bought sprouted brown & wild rice, and it's actually pretty good ;;)

I don't get it I think brown rice tastes so much better. My boyfriend doesn't like it though so I usually make white rice. Plus it doesn't take as long to cook.

I totally hate brown rice. White is fine. Just make sure to measure it so you know how many calories of it you are getting. I lost 30 lb and I have been eating small portions of white rice all along.

How are you cooking it? I probably shouldn't eat any rice at all (it spikes blood sugar terribly) but I LOVE brown rice.

Here is how I do it. I saute 1 C of brown rice in a bit of olive oil and a teaspoon or two of caldo de pollo--the Latin American chicken bouillon granules. Knorr is the best brand. Stir the rice around until it has browned just a bit. Add 3 C of water and bring to a boil. Cover and turn down to low for at least 45 minutes.

You could also cook the rice with real stock instead of water to add more flavor. Adding a crushed clove of garlic to the saute step is good too.

I eat white rice everyday for lunch and dinner and continue to lose weight.
Enjoy the food you like, as long as you are counting your daily calories and not going over.

If you aren't browning it, and aren't adding any salt or flavor...it might taste a bit like cardboard, especially if you are used to eating very processed foods.

White and brown rice are not significantly different from each other in calories or protein. Eat the one you prefer.
