Sweets craving before migraines

I'm having trouble with migraines, and though I have medicine, do have pretty strong cravings for sweets right before the migraines come on. I'm trying not to let this sabotage my progress. Anyone else deal with this or have advice about it? I've noticed if I give in to the craving and eat something sweet, it does seem to help the headache go away faster than just taking the medicine alone...But then I feel awful that I gave in. I've been trying to build in a "cushion" so that if I give in I don't blow the whole diet, but it's hard.

I used to get lots of migraines now I get either none or under 5 a year.
When I feel one start I drink real tea (caffeine type) with some skim milk and 1 TSP of sugar in it. The caffeine does really HELP THE MIGRAINE-SOMETIMES PREVENTS IT and the sugar seems to help too. Not too high in calories0 -
I second the caffeine advice. When I was younger I suffered monthly migraines. Caffeine, ice to the head, dark room. Perhaps a small, measured serving of a sweet thing, if it actually helps keep the migraine at bay I would say not to try to deny it entirely! Like say take ur meds and then eat 120 calories of quality dark chocolate, with strong coffee. Lie down in the dark and put that ice pack on ur head.
When I was young and did not have to count calories like a madwoman I would eat an entire pint of Ben and Jerry's (slowly) for a migraine because I had no medical insurance and the cold applied from inside my head helped a lot, plus something about the sugar, no kidding. Plus the excedrin. But I would never tell anyone to do that unless it was either that or jump off a cliff from the pain, because that's like.... Lord only knows how many calories lol.0 -

Have what you crave. Your body is telling you something. You can fit it into your diet. Maybe your loss is a little slower too, but to me it would be worth it if migraines were less severe.0
