Weight lifting?

I was going through the community page and saw that some people had lost a lot of weight by weight lifting
Can someone explain how this works to me?
I want to lose weight and tone my body at the same time,
I've lost 10 pounds so far but just by running on the treadmill and eating right!

First - Never say toning. . . Ever.
Second - Building muscle and losing fat at the same time is possible, but more difficult than either one alone.
Third - Congrats!!
and Finally - Lifting weights is exercise. It burns calories in the same way that treadmill running burns calories. That's how it works.0 -
Ah alright, got it

I think the best thing you can do is read. Because some of the tips you read on mfp boards lately will get confusing to you. someone might tell you muscle weighs more than fat and a whole other ton of silliness.
So I just wanted a movie called "I Want To Look Like That Guy" it was interesting to add to what I have been reading.
I put a bunch of links on one page, I would take some time and read. Google if you have to, but some of the advice you may get is not what I have learnt and they seem to believe it. So I don't know.
I have done no cardio only heavy lifting and eating 1800 to 2000 cals per day (I'm 5'5 and 120lbs) I've lost 7 inches total in one month and no weight really. I don't weigh I measure. I hope this helps, here is the link, happy reading:

The easiest way to explain this is when weightl lifting, your body spends the next serveral days repairing your muscles which equates to more calories burned. Calories burned from cardio typically stops when the cardio stops. The exception to this is with interval training (HIT).
A few articles that you can read to help you better understand this. Additionally, just because you lift heavy doesn't mean you will get manly. You need to eat A LOT of protein in order to add mass. But strength can be added on without adding a rediculous amount of mass. I once knew a tiny little girl back in Osan Korea that could concetrate curl 60 lb dumbbells. I know very few guys that can do 40 lbs; myself included.
